Only in New York can you see a Canadian bagpipe player and a Japanese beat boxer playing together. They were pretty good.

Whenever I get out of Manhattan I remember what the sky looks like. The Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn is still low, lots of 3 or 4 story buildings with residential mixed with light industrial. It is changing though and the glass tower condo is starting to sprout here and there.

There seems to be a lot going on in this family. I can read so much in their body language. If every picture tells a story this one may tell three or four.

Once, shortly after I had moved to NYC, I was walking down West End Avenue in the 90’s. Coming towards me I spotted a naked man. Where I came from that was the kind of thing that you would notice. However, no one else in the street was paying any attention to him. He was pretty grubby and barefoot. As he passed me, standing still in a bit of shock, not yet having acquired the New York indifference to these things, I heard him muttering to himself. “I don’t want to go to heaven”, he said, “I won’t know anybody.”
Pretty sharp insight for a naked crack head……since then I have always felt the same way.
